Youth Basketball

The Pittsfield Family YMCA’s Youth Basketball League is designed to be instructional in nature and non-competitive in practice in that the score is not kept. Children will have equal playing time on the court and learn fundamental basketball skills, the rules of the game and values such as caring, honesty, respect and responsibility by knowledgeable volunteer coaches. All children of different skills are welcome. Participants will build confidence, self-esteem and be active! Next registration: October 2012

Who
All boys and girls, ages 3 years old through 4th grade.

Divisions
Rookies (ages 3 through Kindergarten), Dribblers (1st and 4nd graders)

Games/Practice Times

  • Rookies: The first 4 weeks of the program will be instructional clinics emphasizing basketball fundamentals at 9 a.m. on Saturdays.
  • Dribblers: Saturdays, 9 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 11:30 a.m. or 12:45 p.m.

Where
All games/practices will be held in the Y’s basketball court, 292 North Street.

Additional Information
Children will be given a T-shirt with their team name and number on it, as well as an end-of-the-year award.
