Y member sets national records

(September 14, 2011) The Pittsfield Family YMCA congratulates member and Master Swim Club participant Craig Crawford  who participated in two national record-setting relay teams!

Crawford swam as a member of the New England Masters three-man relay team (35-years and older) and beat the second place relay team by more than 13 minutes. His relay team set a new United States Masters open water relay record for the two-mile cable swim held at Lake Placid in August 2011. Crawford swam the fastest leg of the relay completing his two-mile swim in 46:00:81.

Crawford was also a member of the mixed 25-years+ relay (two men and two women) that set a new United States Masters open water two-mile cable swim record. Swimmers complete the two-mile swim as individuals and the times of the fastest swimmers are combined in order to make the relays.

Y members and Master Swim Club participants Jim Carothers and Dan Rogacki were members of the men's 35-years+ second place relay. Carothers also took a first place in the mixed 35-years+ relay and Rogacki took a second in the mixed 45-years+ relay.

Congratulations!
