Family Visitation Services

The Supervised Visitation Program (SVP) provides a safe and neutral environment for non-custodial parents to visit with their children. The SVP and the referring parties (DSS, Attorney's and the Probate and Family Court) work with the families toward reunification. Transitional and post adoption visits are offered.

The SVP staff supports the non-custodial parent by modeling parenting skills and providing constructive feedback to the visiting parent. The staff encourages and assists in educating the parents on their understanding of the child's physical and intellectual development, in anticipation of improving the parent/child relationship and nurturing age appropriate activities for the children. In addition, this program provides the custodial parent/guardian with the assurance that the children involved will be physically and psychologically safe.

The Child Exchange program offers families a safe and neutral place to exchange their children from one parent/guardian to the other. Families are encouraged to use this service when there is a protective order in place or not. This service is used when SVP advances to the non-supervised visit.

Appointments must be made in advance.
