Assistant Gymnastics Instructor

The Pittsfield Family YMCA is looking for an assistant gymnastics instructor. The position will be teaching the students basic gymnastics skills and spotting students, following all safety procedures and talking to parents regarding student progress with the support and supervision of the lead gymnastics instructor.  The position focuses on the safety of all participants, as well as knowing reasonable expectations for children of different ages and abilities.

Applicants should have experience as a gymnast or teaching gymnastics to children. They should have an ability to communicate and interact with children while still providing education and a fun learning environment.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Teach gymnastic classes to students of various ages and ability levels.
  • Work with children and their parents to teach the fundamentals of gymnastics while following all safety procedures and protocols.
  • Managing all paperwork including accident reports and sign in sheets.
  • Assisting and helping children develop a sense of accomplishment and self-awareness of their athletic abilities
  • Need to have patience, the ability to explain and instruct as well be energetic , creative and comfortable in a leadership role.
  • CORI check required.
  • Junior in high school or older.
  • The program runs through June with summer program opportunities as well. Candidates should be available for the entire season. The hours needed are on Saturdays from 10–2:30 p.m.
